Our Story

In 2013, the Koehn Family was living in a hotel in the Kansas City area, with 2 kids and a dog, while dad worked a long-term contract. During this challenging time, something extraordinary happened that would change their lives forever.

While Agnes was at Target doing the grocery shopping with the kids, Mackenzy watched in amazement as a group of comicon enthusiasts, dressed up as superheroes, shopped for toys for Children's Mercy. With the help of a local comic book shop, Elite Comics, these real-life heroes were making a difference in the lives of children in need.

Mackenzy was so curious and excited to see the work they were doing that Elite Supergirl invited her along to shop with them. Little did the family know that this simple act of kindness would ignite a spark in Mackenzy's heart—a spark that would grow into something truly remarkable.

Every year since then, with the help of her parents and siblings, Mackenzy has been raising money and collecting toys to donate at Christmas time to Children's Minnesota. What started as a moment of inspiration has become one of the biggest toy drives that Child Life collects every year, putting smiles on hundreds of thousands of kids' faces over the years.

The Children's Trailer represents more than just a toy drive—it's a testament to how a single moment of kindness can inspire a lifetime of giving, and how one family's dedication can bring joy to countless children and their families.
